Bingo is among the easier games, it fundamentals can be grasped without much effort. To play this game all you need is bingo chips, bingo cards, and fast eyes. In short this game is child’s play.

objective of the game:-

The aim of the game is to finish a pre-determined pattern with the least number of calls. The patterns to be filled are are decided upon before the game begins. The pattern can be a full vertical, a X ,a horizontal, a box, a diagonal, or what is called as the black out (this involves filling out the entire card)

The Bingo Card:-

A basic bingo card has the alphabets B-I-N-G-O printed across the top, each of the alphabet refers to five columns. The columns have numbers ranging from one to seventy-five.

The 75 numbers are divided equally between the five columns. The column with B printed above it has the numbers one to fifteen, I has the numbers sixteen to thirty, N column from thirty-one to forty-five, G has numbers ranging from forty six to sixty, the last column O contains numbers from sixty one to seventy five. Each of the columns should contain only 5 numbers from the above specified range.

The card should form a grid and the middle cell, that is the third row of the column N should be empty.

After completing the above prerequisites you can start playing the game. The rules of the game are:-

The game begins when the host intimates everybody of the pattern that should be formed.

Then the host will announce the first alphabet, from the letters B-I-N-G-O and then will announce a number from zero to seventy.

Look for the announced numbering your card, if you spot it then mark it immediately.

The announcing of numbers continue until some one completes the pre-determined pattern.

If you have completed the specified pattern, then yell out ‘bingo’ immediately to indicate that you have completed the pattern. When a person yells bingo, it is a sign that the game is won.

The winning card is then verified to check whether all numbers in the pattern have been marked correctly.

The game can end with a single pattern or continue for multiple patterns or until black-out as described above.

The prize is given immediately after a person yells bingo.

So how did Bingo start? In the United States it started as Beano. It could usually be found at county fair and boardwalks. The caller, as they are known today, would draw random numbers from a box of some sort, usually a cigar box. Paying customers would then cover numbers on cards with beans. If a player won, they would shout Beano to signify they had a straight line bingo. However bingo started first in Italy in 1530 as, Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia, this means Italian Bingo. This game is still played every Saturday.

After Italy, bingo spread to France in about 1770. Here bingo was and still is called “Le Lotto”. It France, it was usually played as a gentleman’s sport by wealthy men. After seeing the success in Italy and France, Germany decided to use the game as a way to teach children lessons on math, spelling, and history. They would use a different version of the game with words or phrases, instead of numbers for spelling and history. This version was a huge success since children found it fun.

When bingo came to the United States in 1929, the version Beano was played in Atlanta, Georgia. One fateful day, a failing toy salesman, Edwin Lowe, was watching a carnival game and saw an opportunity before him. Lowe went home to tell his friends and family about the game. He started hosting games using small cardboard cards and rubber stamps. One of his friends go so excited during a win they yelled “Bingo” when he should have yelled Beano. Lowe was so excited about the term, the New York native renamed it bingo. He decide to start selling the game in two ways: you could pay one dollar for 12 cards or two dollars for 24 cards. Later on, he hired a math professor from Columbia University, to help increase the number of number sequences on the cards. They came up with over 6,000 different cards. It is said the professor then went insane.

Later, a Catholic Priest asked Lowe if bingo could be used as a means to raise money for the church. After Lowe gave his consent, bingo spread across the states. As bingo became a hit and people asked Lowe if they could host games, Lowe only made two requirements. If you wanted to host games, you had to pay a dollar a year and of course call the game bingo. Over 10,000 bingo games were played per week by estimate in 1934. Today it is estimated that the bingo industry has over 90 million sales per week in the US today.

Since many centuries, bingo games have been a method for people to come close together as a community. You will find many bingo churches or halls in almost every community where a substantial number of people are playing this game. This pastime is popular with people belonging to every age group. Although the conventional form of this game is applicable in the real world, in today’s times the conventions have stretched further to incorporate even the virtual world.

This virtual world is in the form of the web world where people play Bingo online. This is convenient for those who cannot go out of their residences to play. Thus the main distinction between conventional and online bingo is the location of play. In the case of the former, you are required to physically go to the site or casino to play whereas for the latter, you can simply play a game within the comforts of your own home if you have access to the Internet.

Another point of difference between conventional and online bingo is that all conventional bingo halls close during the night but online bingo provides for round the clock service. This allows you to play the game at your desired and convenient time and you can thus opt for big prizes.

The main rule of Bingo is that a single or few persons draw a ball with the corresponding number and letter and announce what he or she has drawn. The players are supposed to look and make a mark in their cards if the number drawn matches with any of those appearing in one’s card. The drawing of bingo balls is continued till the time any one bingo player completes a particular pattern that is mentioned prior to the game. The rules for online bingo are almost same.

The only difference with regard to rules for online bingo as opposed to conventional bingo is that in this case since the players play the games from their houses, the numbers are drawn online and electronically. Then similar to the operation of conventional bingo, the first player or players who are able to complete the required pattern will be declared winner and provided with the prize.

It is observed that nowadays more and more people are opting to play for online bingo since it saves on a lot of time and money. This is because you do not have to spend extra money and time for traveling to any bingo playing centre. You can also purchase many bingo cards at low prices. Finally, you can win lots prizes with a relatively small amount of time and investment.
